Men’s HealthHormone therapy is important for men, too. Men of all ages can experience a declining production of testosterone, thyroid dysfunction and fatigued adrenal glands. Thyroid dysfunction and adrenal fatigue should be addressed first in order to derive benefit from improving testosterone levels. When improving testosterone levels we take the following three-step approach: Step One: Naturally unbind existing testosterone from binding proteins, resulting in higher testosterone availability. Increasing the bio-availability of existing testosterone can raise levels within normal ranges or decrease the need for high levels of replacement. Step Two: Explore natural means to stimulate the man’s own ability to produce his own testosterone. In discovering the root for low testosterone, an underlying source of inflammation is usually identified. Management of this inflammatory issue is important to assure that testosterone is not being aromatized (converted) into an inflammatory estrogen. Frequently men at age 50 have a higher level of estrogen than their female counterparts because their testosterone is being aromatized into estrogen. Step Three: A concern with commonly used testosterone replacement with a trans-dermal cream is the atrophy or shrinkage of the testicles and dependence on the trans-dermal cream for even low levels of testosterone. In addition, receiving testosterone replacement trans-dermally or orally increases the risk for aromatization (conversion) into a type of inflammatory estrogen or dihydrotestosterone, DHT, which contributes to male patterned baldness. The preferred method of delivery of testosterone replacement is through the administration of a small injection into the adipose tissue where it is utilized at a slower rate and metabolized along healthier pathways. Prostate HealthProstate cancer is not caused by testosterone. Prostate enlargement and/or disease can be attributed to a number of causes including an inflammatory internal environment contributing to an increase in estrogen; sub-clinical infections and/or toxicity. Recovering prostate health can often be achieved by identifying and addressing the underlying causes through a blend of conventional and natural therapies. |
