Hormone Balance

Aging is a fact, yet we all seem to do it differently. What distinguishes the active, vital senior from the feeble elderly?

It is only through the recent understanding of genetic polymorphism that allows this question to be answered. Genetic polymorphism is by definition the ability of the genes to express a certain response depending on surrounding influences of its environment. An example is that if a person is vitamin defecient and has an unhealthy diet and lifestyle, the genes will express a "store and protect" mode which lease to obesity, insulin resistance, and possible high blood pressure.

Yet through proper diet, nutrition, exercise and stress reduction the body with the same genes can express a healthier picture.

The second element to take into account is that everybody's genetic code is unique to some degree. This results in an individual variation to response to environmental factors. This is seen in the differing reaction of two individuals to the same habits and lifestyle. Like the predisposition to allergies where one person will react to pollens in the air and another will not. Therefore the genes will respond, based on their genetic code differently according to their environmental factors. Thus the term genetic polymorphism (many forms) is derived.

The Healthy Aging Program at the Longevity Healthcare Center identifies the impact of the environmental influences on the function of the body and the genetic predisposition for imbalances.

Diagnostic assessments of hormonal , cardiac and brain function in conjunction with lifestyle are used to develop an individualized plan to prevent disease and achieve optimal health

Our approaches are holistic and natural, recognizing the uniqueness of the individual, focusing on improving underlying function of all systems.

Aging may be a fact, but loss of quality of life is not. Vitality through prevention is possible.
